Module 5 : Analytical Data
For this lab, we were tasked with creating a map covering the comparison of two variables. We learned how to utilize excel in order to create scatter plots, bar, pie, and line graphs. As well as, using the data within them to add other infographics.
The map below depicts the correlation of HbA1c Monitoring and the likelihood of a hospital stay.
The map on the left is for preventable hospital stays and the map on the right is for HbA1c monitoring. The scatterplot showed a correlation in preventable hospital stays in areas that had higher percentages of HbA1c monitoring. I also created a bar graph depicting the three states with the highest and lowest percentage of preventable hospital stays to show in-depth comparisons of the two variables.
To add more detail, I added two infographics. One is a pie chart of Harlan County, KY which has the lowest percentage of HbA1c monitoring compared to the total amount of diabetics present. The second infographic is showing how many Americans do not know they have diabetes which could be lowered with Hb1Ac testing in certain individuals.
Overall, I learned how to utilize excel and how to use infographics to add extra data and information to a topic.
