In this week's lab, we learned how to geocode and add XY data to ArcGIS. With geocoding, we came across some errors where we learned how to resolve them as well as input the correct data. The goal of the map was to depict Manatee County schools and their correct locations. This was accomplished with the address locator tool and by downloading information from the census and organizing it on an excel sheet. An error that was experienced was having unmatched addresses, meaning we did not know what school or what location that school would be at. In order to fix this, I had to search the address via google maps or by searching the table of schools and their addresses to find their location on the map. Somewhat time consuming but I found looking for the address in the attribute table and finding the name made it easier to find the correct location of the school on the map. Overall, this was pretty easy to learn and forming the excel sheets for adding data was simple. Learning the shortcuts on excel helped tremendously with time and with ensuring everything would be correct and concise.
